[The Twilight Saga:Breaking Dawn Part 1]
Plot:Fourth installment of the "Twilight" series. Pulled in one direction by her intense passion for Edward Cullen, and in another by her profound connection to Jacob Black, Bella Swan has endured a tumultuous year of temptation, loss, and strife to reach the ultimate turning point. Now that Bella has made her decision, a startling chain of unprecedented events is about to unfold with potentially devastating and unfathomable consequences.

My Thoughts:And they continue to get more and more annoying.

Review:I only review these films for the site and because they involve vampires. They cross over into the horror genre in that regard. I was not fond of "Twilight", nor "New Moon". "Eclipse" was a lot darker and more graphic. I appreciated that. But still, I was not big on that one either from the standpoint of it being a pure genre piece. Now comes "Breaking Dawn:Part 1" (indicating that there'll be a part 2 next November *dies*).

The followup to "Eclipse". The third movie. In this installment. Not much has changed from the proceeding three films. Bella STILL loves Edward. And Jacob is STILL pissed about that. Angry because the vampire has trumped the wolf. Personally, I think it's because Edward and the Cullens have this chic, stylish, lavish lifestyle with their fancy clothes, homes, etc. And when you come from Forks Washington like Bella does.

You're obviously not gonna live in a regular old house on a reservation like Jacob does. A small town girls gotta get "paid" after all! So Bella has chosen to marry Edward. Instead of Jacob. And to continue her trend of rubbing it in Jacob's face, she invites him to the wedding. How wonderful. Jacob shows, but it's more of a private moment between Jacob/Edward and Bella. Most of the film is spent on mushy love stuff.

Going from the preparations for Bella and Edwards wedding. To the wedding itself, and then...the honeymoon which follows. Which is where things finally get interesting. Well, "interesting" on the level of how interesting a "Twilight" movie can actually be. Seems Edward has knocked up Bella, who is now preggers. And being that the child is half vampire...Bella's pregnancy is not a smooth one. In fact, it's damn near fatal. So along with that sometimes-comical bit of drama.

The film tries to cast a menacing and ominous shadow over future events by implementing a little bit of intriguing dialogue at the wedding where a brief confrontation happens between Edward, Bella, and another group of vamps. Who are angry about a vampire who was killed in one of the earlier films. This foreshadows that there's gonna be some revenge a-brewin'! At some point during the pic. Add to that. Once Bella's pregnancy gets out into the community of Forks.

Everyone becomes concerned. Wolf and non-Wolf. After all, the kids a fanged freakshow blooddrinker. At some point, something bad is bound to happen. It's about this time that I kind of began to miss the Volturi clan. They were the only good things about parts 2 and 3 of this franchise. Without them in the fourth film, beyond a short twisted dream sequence...the picture suffered tremendously. I guess the point of this film was to just move the story along into "Breaking Dawn:Part 2".

Yet at the same time, milk the franchise for some more fangirl dough. But oddly enough, most of the actors in this franchise don't seem to be outgrowing their roles. Normally, in a series of movies like this. By movie number 3, everybody starts to look a bit ridiculous in their vampire garb and such. But the one good thing about this franchise, is how the story manages to mature the characters along with each new sequel. So by film four. People look and act as you'd expect them to.

They're not as if they're being forced into this ridiculous get-up and a character that they look way too old to be playing. However, I still feel sorry for Jacob. And really wish the writers would give him some backbone. I haven't read the books. So I guess Jacob is supposed to play second fiddle to Edward in the books. But the character comes off as a neutered puppy dog. Instead of a hardcore primal, wolf.

At some point, he just needs to tell Bella to eff off, and he's sick of her mind games. And since she's chosen to run with the vampires. And furthermore, give birth to Edward's spawn...she's on her own now. I hope in some future movie this happens. But considering how "Breaking Dawn" concludes...that may not be necessary going forward? Who knows.

But one thing is for sure. "Breaking Dawn" is the weakest of the franchise thus far. Even lacking the sparkling, crisp, cinematography of the first three movies. And the flashy and quick scenery captures during battle and chase sequence moments. And while I have never been big on "Twilight" as a film series. One thing they always got right was making these movies look good visually. And when the bottom eventually falls out of that box, you KNOW...it's bad.

Positives:Watching Bella suffer through the bodily effects of her pregnancy was interesting. The twisted dead-body-wedding dream sequence was quite cool. The end scene was nicely done also.

Negatives:Just an overall boring installment. Very lackluster compared to the first 3. The directing lacked spunk, and I am so sick of seeing Jacob continue to pine over Bella. Enough already!

Overall:One star out of four.
